MMA uses a unique approach based entirely on the core concept of value chains. We use Value Chain Development (VCD) to increase the rewards of participating in market-based economies by combining private sector and pro-poor (wealth creation) approaches. We support producer groups such as farmers, pastoralists, beekeepers, fishers and handcrafters, as well as the businesses that they supply. We do this by increasing access to markets, building closer business relations and increasing efficiency and competitiveness along the value chains. Since 2003, we have researched 10 to 20 products and services annually. This makes us a leader in promoting value addition in emerging economies, mainly in East and Southern Africa.
